Vellore
fort is one among the most well maintained ancient forts in
the country. This 16th century constructed fort has witness
rule of Muslim rulers of Bijapur and Delhi, Marathas and
British and presently serving as museum for historical
monuments.
Jalakanteswara Temple, Church and Police training center are
also situated within the boundary wall of forest and among the
tourist attractions of the fort. The Vellore city is about 145
km from the Chennai hence this fort is easily accessible.
