This
ancient city is a costal city on Arabian sea in the southern
region of Maharashtra known as Kokan. The area have heavy
rainfall and famous for most delicious species of Mangoes "Hapus"
[Alphonso] hence often called as city of Mangoes. Near by
place Ganpatipule is known for the sea shore temple of Lord
Ganesha. City is the districts administrative center and birth
place of Lokmanya Tilak.
