River Naramda is not only one among the scared rivers of the country but also famous for one the largest dam project of the world. In the Madhya Pradesh at Mortakka river has created an "Om" shaped island where one of twelve jyotirlingam is situated, this place is known as the Onkareshwar or Omkareshwar. City is among the famous Hindu pilgrimage places. There are two temples Omkareshwar [OM-maker-lord] & Amareshwar [lord of the immortals].

How to reach Onkareshwar by Train

Mortakka [about 15km away] is the nearest rail station.

How to reach Onkareshwar by Road

Mortakka lies on the highway that connects Khandwa and Indore and numerous buses runs on the route.

How to reach Onkareshwar by Air

Nearest Airport is Indore at about 3 hours road travel.

Significant Tourist Attractions (spots) of Onkareshwar

Beside the religious importance boating in the river Narmada is the other tourist attraction. Witnessing a Sun rise with chanting of "Om Namyai Shivai" in background might be a most scenic view of life.
