Mahaballipuram Monuments - World Heritage SiteThis ancient township which was known as city of Bali in the Mahabharat era is situated at the distance less than 60 km from the Chennai. famous for Rock-cut temples are on the list of World Heritage Sites of UNESCO. The best time to visit is January during the annually held Mahaballipuram Dance Festival.

Mahaballipuram sea shore temple constructed in 7th century is dedicated to God Shiva. Ratha Caves temples built by by the Pallava king Narsimha between 7th and 8th centuries are most significant, artistic and beautiful expression of rock-cut temple sculpture.
