As per the legend every ("Har ek" in Hindi) God (Dev) lives here and city is native place of God Shiva (Har) and God Vishnu (Han) from where the city is known as Haridwar. Gangadwar, Dev Bhoomi, Mayapuri & Kapila are some of the other names of the city. City is the place from where famous Hindu pilgrimage "Char Dham" [Badarinath, Kailashnath, Gangotari & Yamnotari] starts. Beside being the city of religious importance Haridwar is paradise of nature lovers, as this is place where most scared river Ganga emerges from the mountains and famous Rajaji National Park is very close to city.

How to reach Haridwar by Rail:

A good network of trains is available from Delhi & other major cities for a comfortable safe train travel.

How to reach Haridwar by Road:

Haridwar is located on well connecting National Highway [NH45] which provides a comfortable journey to tourists.

How to reach Haridwar by Air:

Nearest airport is the Jolly Grant in Dehradun but most of people prefer to take flight from Delhi.
