Akola is budding industrial hub. There are many units engaged with production of Basen (gram flour). Other industries are oil & textiles. Akola district is the largest cotton crop yielding district in the country. City is also famous for the advanced medical facilities available for Elizarov technique, IVF, etc. 
 

How to reach Akola by train:

City is a major halt on the Mumbai – Kolkatta (via Nagpur) and Ajmer Purana route. There are sufficient trains halting here for connecting city with rest of India.

How to reach Akola by Road:

NH 6, Surat Kolkatta run through the city. Frequency of bus service for intra and inter state road travel is adequate to meet with the demands. Air conditions, sleeper coach bus service is also there for some selective cities.

How to reach Akola By Air:

City have airport of own but commercial domestic flights are available for Nagpur only. Very shortly private aviation companies are going to interim their Nagpur Mumbai flights here at Akola.

Significant Tourist Attractions of Akola

Raj Rajeshwar Temple - Dedicated to God Shiva and located at city heart. Other famous temples are Birla Mandir (Shri Ram Temple), Shreenath Dutta Mandir and Jain Mandir.
