City of God Shiv [Vishavanath] and Goddess Parvati is situated on the banks of most holy river Ganga, which at Varanasi have powers of washing all the sins of humankind. "Kashi Karvat" is ancient faith which says one who dies at Banaras [Kashi] gets salvation and  goes out from the cycle of birth - death - rebirth. This is hard to find origin of the city as even the oldest history have mention of this city. Co abode of Lord Vishnu and Shiv, Varanasi is most visited religious city. Being the birth place of Parsvanath, the twenty-third Tirthankar of Jain religion city is also a pilgrimage of Jainism. 

      Ayurveda, the ancient medical science was originated here at this city as Maharishi Patanjali, the preceptor of Ayurveda and Yoga was affiliated with city and so were the Madan Mohan Malviya - founder of "Banaras Hindu University" and  Tulsidas writer of "Ram Charitar Manas". Ravi Shankar, renowned Sitar maestro and Ustad Bismillah Khan, famous Shehnai player are also associated with Varanasi. Over the years Banaras Silk Sarees are Wedding and ceremonial sarees of the country.
