In
the Delhi if you are on the Pragati Maidan you sure to notice
a high wall running parallel to you for a distance of about 2
km. this is the boundary wall of the fort build by Muslim King
Humayun and called as Purana Qila [Old Fort] by most of Delhi
citizens. At the time of construction fort was with thirteen
gates including Bada darwaza used for entering the fort.
Historically the site of this fort believed to be ancient city
Indraprastha of Mahabharat era hence this fort went under many
excavations for searching a decisive evidence. though age has
proved an important hurdle for the preservation of the fort
but still Qila-i-kuhna masjid is there to reflect the mogul
architectural excellence.
