Pattadakal,
the place of famous Virupaksha & Banashankari Temple is
situated just 17 km from the historic city Bijapur in southern
Indian state Karantaka is on the list of World Heritage Sites
of UNESCO since 1987. Ten temples here were built between 7th
and 9th century during the period of Chalukya. Architecture of
temples here is homogenous mixture of temple architectural
excellence of north and south India. Another significant
temple is God Shiva dedicated Jambulinga Temple with idol of
dancing Shiva. Vijayaditya Satyasraya (AD 697-733) built
temple Sangamesvara is the oldest among all.
