Janjira
fort is one of fabulous sea fort of country, situated at Murud
in Maharashtra state. One can reach here either by train [Roha
- Kokan Railways] or by road [about 165 km from Mumbai]. Once
the fort was having 500 cannons within 40 feet high thick
protecting walls with 19 Burj [watch towers]. Age has damaged
many constructions there but still 3 big guns Kalal Bangadi,
Chavari and Landa Kasam, 2 water tanks and some tombs are
worth watching. Fort is located about 2km in the sea and once
was closely related with Maratha King Shivaji.
