Yet
another famous monument of Delhi, Part of UNESCO's list of
World Heritage Sites and most significant illustration of
Persian architecture inspired Mugul monuments in the country.
There are no decisive evidences but this is famous folk tales
that Humayun who died in 1566 have selected this spot and
designed architect for him tomb which was constructed in 1559
by his queen Hamida Banu [also known as Haji Begam]. The tomb
is situated at the center of square shaped garden and is one
of structure its kind. According to history pages a
Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyath looked after the
construction of tomb, cost of which went to as high as Rs. 15
Lakhs at that time.
