This
prime and central worship place of Sikhism was built by fifth
Sikh Guru, Dhan Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji in the year 1601 and
named as Sri Harmandir [temple of God] Sahib, due to coating
of gold the temple become famous as the Golden Temple.
The temple is unique in the sense that foundation stone for
this was laid down by a muslim saint Hazrat Mian Mir ji
[Lahore] and unlike the other Hindu temples, Harmandir Sahib
is open from four side symbolising entrance to all.
Visitor have to take of shoos and cover head before entering.
This three storied building is considered as best
architectural illustration of the world
