This
most famous monument of economic capital of the country, the
foundation work of which completed in 1920 and was inaugurated
on December 4, 1924 by the Viceroy, Earl of Reading. This is
the gateway from where last British troops left the country
on February 28, 1948. The cast of constructing this Indo-saracenic
style monument by using yellow Kharodi basalt and reinforced
concrete has crossed the limit of Rs. 20 Lakhs. It
is often said that as this monument faces shortage of funds
might be due to this Gateway is standing on the end of solo
road leading to it.
