linear caves temples related with Buddhism, containing Chaitya
& Vihar along with some Hindu & Jain temples were
excavated between 5th to 11th century. This famous pilgrimage
site is glorified with inclusion in World Heritage list of
UNESCO. Among all the caves "Kailash Temple" [cave No
26] is the most impressive one as this is world's largest
single monolithic structure. Some other important caves are
Cave No.1: First monastery with four residential cells.
Cave No. 2: With verandah and hall walls having sculptures of
five seated Buddha.
Cave No.4: Almost ruins, of two storeyed cave with plain hall
at lower storey and a small shrine of upper one.
Cave No. 3,5,6,7,8,9 and Cave No. 10 - Vishavkarama [the
architect of God] and Cave No. 11 - Do Tal are also among the
star tourist attractions of these caves.
